Vectorized sketches

These works only have  in common the fact that they’ve been drawn long ago,  quickly, on the most variated situations and on the supports I had at my fingertips, like notebooks, enveloppes and  cartons of any kind.

Recently  I decided to make them reborn by using a vectors software, Corel Draw, here the results!

The “Inner trips” project

Inner Trips is a project in which I invite the viewer to share the life experiences of other people, using their own eyes -to me, the most expressive part of the human body- to catch a glimpse into their memories, their everyday lives, their dreams, aspirations, passions, and anything we could find inside them in one specific moment. Here, the first four works of the series… Thanks a lot to Evelyn, Kasia and Tina, for being “my eyes” during this first trip.

Humanity is overrated

Dr. House (Hug Laurie), from my favorite T.V Show, House MD.
Charcoal drawing on paper.

About this drawing I’m always told “Cool, its Dr. House!… but why didn’t you finish the face?”  Well…  since you knew it was House just by looking at the eyes, then my work is done ;)
Funny, thing,  when you draw a face no one asks you “why didnt you  finish the whole body?

Anyway, here’s a bunch of my favorite Dr. House quotes, enjoy and  think:

“Reality is almost always wrong.”

“Arrogance has to be earned.”

“If you talk to God you’re religious. If God talks to you, you’re psychotic.”

“Mistakes are as serious as the results they cause!”

“You could think I’m wrong, but that’s no reason to stop thinking.”

“The most successful marriages are based on lies.”

“You’re my only friend. And I hate you.”

“Humility is an important quality. Especially if you’re wrong a lot…. Of course, when you’re right, self-doubt doesn’t help anybody, does it?”

“If you can fake sincerity, you can fake pretty much anything.”

“Humanity is overrated.”

“I’ve found that when you want to know the truth about someone, that someone is probably the last person you should ask. You want to know how two chemicals interact, do you ask them? No, they’re going to lie through their lying little chemical teeth. Throw them in a beaker and apply heat.”

“You’re a disgrace to your stereotype.”

“If I was kidding I’d be dressed like you.”

“There’s nothing in this universe that can’t be explained. Eventually.”

Caricatures

This is my caricature gallery. Most of my subjects are friends or celebrities.
I apologize for the poor technique, almost all of them were made years ago.
My favourite one is the caricature of Charly García, an argentinian musician. This one i made it to see if I could accomplish a caricature in just one stroke, without leaving the pencil, and without previous
sketches. For those who know the guy, the result is not bad, I think.
I leave you with a couple of samples of the levels of quality this under-rated form of art can reach in the hands of true masters:
“The Beatles”, by Carlos Tovar (Carlín).
“Mick Jagger” by Sebastian Kruger

I made this one with pencils and sepia on medium surface paper, taken from a picture of  Matt Cardy appeared in a magazine. I just loved her, so relaxed, sunbathing during a surfing tournament in Fistral Beach, England (you can also see it here: http://www.jamd.com/image/g/76021466).

“Reversible”

This is a group of paintings made for being watched from any of the four angles. There’s no “correct” way to see them, actually I rotate them from time to time.
Here you see four repetitions in each work, but they are digital repetitions so you can see the four views. The actual painting is only one of them.
